tomorrow is the opening of the competition/exhibit i entered, so everyone who is around is welcome at mekanik strip in antwerp. the whole thing starts around 14.00!

what's your excuse?

my entry for the drawing contest what's your excuse, by the antwerp comic book shop mekanik... i sort of forgot about it and ended up changing my initial idea (an airport) to a train station on friday- three days or so before the deadline. what followed were three days of scribbling at top-speed. i'm not entirely happy about the result, but it could have been worse!

ok, not really.

but my work appeared on screen for a few seconds and that's a reason for me to post it.

i recently became 'artist in residence' at Nova in Antwerp, which basically means that i draw the covers for their brochures and do other pretty stuff. this was my illustration for the first cover...


and here's the print version! i was very excited about this and it turned out rather well.


they even included some text about me to flatter my huge ego.

since i spent so much time on the little figurines for the poster that came with the kapitein winokio cd, i thought i'd give them a separate post! i tried to picture typical musicians and dancers from every country on the cd, and turned them into this captain figure.
