paper fashion

right now, at the fashion museum in antwerp, there is a nice exhibition going on about paper dresses. a certain kind of disposable paper dress was very popular in the sixties, and since the exhibition was so much fun, our graphic design teacher decided to give an assignment about it: we had about three weeks to create a basic paper dress around the theme 'blow up'.

my idea was to enlarge a simple lace pattern and cut it out, so you would get a see-through dress, creating nice effects of shapes and shadows. here is the finished dress:

kitty doesn't like it.

(in fact, i think he'd like to scratch it off the wall, as he does with most posters he finds. i took it down immediately after taking a picture.)

part of the book i'm working on now for illustration. it's about a dream i sometimes have.

i made this a few weeks ago, we had to make a picture of a building site. i didn't feel like it so tried to find a way to do the assignment without really doing the assignment...
